Topic: CHRISTOLOGY Passage: Ephesians 5:25

Take a look at the painting, "The Denunciation of Adam and Eve," a nineteenth century painting created by George Frederick Watts, and see how Fr. Daniel uses this work of art to depict one of the most wonderful truths about Jesus Christ and His church. This is a call for men to "love" their wives, and what that means for us today.

Things Fr. Daniel was not able to point out in this homily are important details like God and his angels blocking the way to the Tree of Life - which although a denunciation, was actually a very great mercy. This teaches us that what we sometimes see as "judgment" is in fact mercy and love. Even in God's denunciations of Adam and Eve, he tenderly protects them from a very much worse state of existence. There are also other elements of this painting that hint to important truths on which we might benefit by observation and meditation. What do you see?
